New Zealand's Department of Internal Affairs issues passports; administers civil unions; registers births, deaths, marriages and name changes; administers citizenship applications; ensures gambling is fair, legal and honest; enforces censorship law and anti-spam law and promotes internet safety; supervises anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism; contributes to community development by administering Lottery Grants, Community Grants Schemes, Grants Online and Trusts; provides support services and policy advice for Ministers of the Crown; and provides information technology services to government.
